- 1 Flourish. Enter King Edward in triumph, with Richard, George and the
- 2 rest.
- 3 KING EDWARD.
- 4 Thus far our fortune keeps an upward course,
- 5 And we are graced with wreaths of victory.
- 6 But in the midst of this bright-shining day,
- 7 I spy a black, suspicious, threat’ning cloud
- 8 That will encounter with our glorious sun
- 9 Ere he attain his easeful western bed.
- 10 I mean, my lords, those powers that the Queen
- 11 Hath raised in Gallia have arrived our coast
- 12 And, as we hear, march on to fight with us.
- 13 GEORGE.
- 14 A little gale will soon disperse that cloud
- 15 And blow it to the source from whence it came;
- 16 Thy very beams will dry those vapours up,
- 17 For every cloud engenders not a storm.
- 18 RICHARD.
- 19 The Queen is valued thirty thousand strong,
- 20 And Somerset, with Oxford, fled to her.
- 21 If she have time to breathe, be well assured
- 22 Her faction will be full as strong as ours.
- 23 KING EDWARD.
- 24 We are advertised by our loving friends
- 25 That they do hold their course toward Tewkesbury.
- 26 We, having now the best at Barnet field,
- 27 Will thither straight, for willingness rids way;
- 28 And, as we march, our strength will be augmented
- 29 In every county as we go along.
- 30 Strike up the drum! cry “Courage!” and away.
- 31 [_Exeunt._]
