The Tragedy Of Romeo And Juliet

  1. 1 Enter Capulet, Lady Capulet, Nurse and Servants.
  2. 2 CAPULET.
  3. 3 So many guests invite as here are writ.
  4. 4 [_Exit first Servant._]
  5. 5 Sirrah, go hire me twenty cunning cooks.
  6. 6 SECOND SERVANT.
  7. 7 You shall have none ill, sir; for I’ll try if they can lick their
  8. 8 fingers.
  9. 9 CAPULET.
  10. 10 How canst thou try them so?
  11. 11 SECOND SERVANT.
  12. 12 Marry, sir, ’tis an ill cook that cannot lick his own fingers;
  13. 13 therefore he that cannot lick his fingers goes not with me.
  14. 14 CAPULET.
  15. 15 Go, begone.
  16. 16 [_Exit second Servant._]
  17. 17 We shall be much unfurnish’d for this time.
  18. 18 What, is my daughter gone to Friar Lawrence?
  19. 19 NURSE.
  20. 20 Ay, forsooth.
  21. 21 CAPULET.
  22. 22 Well, he may chance to do some good on her.
  23. 23 A peevish self-will’d harlotry it is.
  24. 24 Enter Juliet.
  25. 25 NURSE.
  26. 26 See where she comes from shrift with merry look.
  27. 27 CAPULET.
  28. 28 How now, my headstrong. Where have you been gadding?
  29. 29 JULIET.
  30. 30 Where I have learnt me to repent the sin
  31. 31 Of disobedient opposition
  32. 32 To you and your behests; and am enjoin’d
  33. 33 By holy Lawrence to fall prostrate here,
  34. 34 To beg your pardon. Pardon, I beseech you.
  35. 35 Henceforward I am ever rul’d by you.
  36. 36 CAPULET.
  37. 37 Send for the County, go tell him of this.
  38. 38 I’ll have this knot knit up tomorrow morning.
  39. 39 JULIET.
  40. 40 I met the youthful lord at Lawrence’ cell,
  41. 41 And gave him what becomed love I might,
  42. 42 Not stepping o’er the bounds of modesty.
  43. 43 CAPULET.
  44. 44 Why, I am glad on’t. This is well. Stand up.
  45. 45 This is as’t should be. Let me see the County.
  46. 46 Ay, marry. Go, I say, and fetch him hither.
  47. 47 Now afore God, this reverend holy Friar,
  48. 48 All our whole city is much bound to him.
  49. 49 JULIET.
  50. 50 Nurse, will you go with me into my closet,
  51. 51 To help me sort such needful ornaments
  52. 52 As you think fit to furnish me tomorrow?
  53. 53 LADY CAPULET.
  54. 54 No, not till Thursday. There is time enough.
  55. 55 CAPULET.
  56. 56 Go, Nurse, go with her. We’ll to church tomorrow.
  57. 57 [_Exeunt Juliet and Nurse._]
  58. 58 LADY CAPULET.
  59. 59 We shall be short in our provision,
  60. 60 ’Tis now near night.
  61. 61 CAPULET.
  62. 62 Tush, I will stir about,
  63. 63 And all things shall be well, I warrant thee, wife.
  64. 64 Go thou to Juliet, help to deck up her.
  65. 65 I’ll not to bed tonight, let me alone.
  66. 66 I’ll play the housewife for this once.—What, ho!—
  67. 67 They are all forth: well, I will walk myself
  68. 68 To County Paris, to prepare him up
  69. 69 Against tomorrow. My heart is wondrous light
  70. 70 Since this same wayward girl is so reclaim’d.
  71. 71 [_Exeunt._]
